Regardless of exterior design, the outdoor fire pit itself is generally circular in shape, stands safely above ground level and keeps the fire contained within the pit with the help of a mesh or glass top. Some steel constructed pits are treated with a natural rust patina and feature metal cut outs through which the firelight glows onto your deck or patio.
